Kristoffer Rosing-Schow

In the September 2024 edition of the Theremin 30 podcast, host Rick Reid presents music by Rob Schwimmer, Steve Bryson, and the International Theremin Camp ensemble, along with a calendar of upcoming events. The featured interview is with Danish multi-instrumentalist and composer Kristoffer Rosing-Schow about Teenage Message Two: The Second Theremin Concert for Extraterrestrials, a work created for roughly 25 theremins with piano, guitar, and percussion. Rosing-Schow discusses composing for players of varied experience, incorporating the theremin’s pitch uncertainty and interference into the music, arranging performers around the room for a surround-sound effect, and drawing inspiration from a 2001 theremin transmission directed toward outer space.
