Before becoming a professional musician, solo classical recordings like this one were a strong hobby of mine. In this video, I experimented with the vocal possibilities of my D-Lev theremin prototype (https://d-lev.com) Each of the three theremin voices has its own "voice" (different vocal presets).
Mimicking the human voice with the theremin is definitely not a new idea. There are plenty of videos showcasing formant-shaping pedals (like the EHX Talking Machine), and some other D-Lev performances. For some reason, I have always been a bit afraid of this, as nothing can replace a true lyrical singer. Also, the theremin shines on its own right with a very unique tone. I am not sure I would use this setup on a regular basis - but it was fun to try!
